Any vocal song whether Western or Indian will always have associated Orchestral / Instrumental music whether it is a filmy song or a classical. Even a classical Indian music concert will have Tambura, Tabla, Violin, Harmonium, Mridanga, etc. as accompanying musical instruments. When it comes to film music it is much more elaborate with pieces like Guitar, Accordian, Saxophone, Drums, Sitar, Piano, Jaltarang, Mouth Organ, etc. added. More the number of pieces, greater the attraction, for example the recent Sonu Nigam show at Royal Albert Hall had 75 piece Orchestra. Of course, with the advent of technology, it has become much more sophisticated but simple. (more…)

An attempt to review ‘Tum Joh Mil Gaye Ho’ would be incomplete without actually ‘experiencing’ it, preferably on a rainy day over a long drive and you sure will be transported to a world of intense love and nostalgia.

From the movie ‘Hanste Zakhm’ (1973), this song is composed by the great Madan Mohan and lyrics penned by Kaifi Azmi. Very few songs in the 70s had such a balanced scope for Lyricist, Composer and Singer/s. (more…)

Rafi Saheb in his golden voice wonderfully describes the unique and prosperous natural, cultural, social characteristics of our country in the song from Kedar Kapoor’s SIKANDAR-E-AZAM (1965), composed by Hansraj Bhel in the great lyrics of Qamar Jalalabadi and the song was picturised on Prem Nath and Prem Chopra.
