As a devoted fan of Mohammed Rafi, I often find myself lost in the timeless beauty of his voice, a voice that carries not just notes but emotions, stories, and an ocean of depth. One such song that continues to resonate with my soul is “Aapke Pehelu Mein Aakar Ro Diye” from the 1966 movie Mera Saaya. This song, with its profound lyrics and Rafi Sahab’s evocative rendition, transcends time, leaving an indelible mark on anyone who listens to it.
As the monsoon showers drench the lush landscapes of South India, there’s an undeniable charm in the air. The rhythmic pitter-patter of rain, the earthy fragrance of wet soil, and the cool breeze create a symphony that perfectly complements the mood of the season. It’s during such moments that one is reminded of timeless melodies that celebrate the rain, and one such song is “Rimjhim Ke Tarane Leke Aayi Barasaat” from the 1960 Bollywood classic, Kala Bazar.
“Haseen Dilruba Kareeb Aa Zara” is a captivating song from the 1972 Bollywood film Roop Tera Mastana by Mohammed Rafi. Sung by the legendary Rafi Sahab, this track epitomizes the romantic charm and melodic richness characteristic of Rafi Sahab’s music.

As a little schoolboy, sleeping on the Barsaati (open roof) of our middle class house in a traditionally cosmopolitan colony of New Delhi, on a hot summer Iate evening I used to lie on the cool bedsheet, looking at the sky and the stars and the moon in its various forms and shapes from time to time. The beautiful sky, the stars, the moon and the very light breeze which picked up momentum as the night descended on us, kept me awake and sleep would evade me.
