This anecdote is what I heard from my Father. He passed away in 1990. But he was an ardent fan of Mohd.Rafi and he has so many stories to tell about Rafi Saab. I would like to share this one with our Fan Club. It just amazes me reading so much about him and I am not SATISFIED yet, Never will I be satisfied reading about our Rafi Saab. I am pretty sure that there are more and more stories about him.

I would like to share one which I heard from my late father. I believe that Naushad saab used to visit Rafi’s house often and during conversations would tell Bashira Begum (Rafi Saab’s wife) that ‘She was the most LUCKIEST Woman on the Planet’ and when asked why….Naushad saab’s reply was ‘Aapko tho sub kuch itni Meeti awaz mein milthi hai, Pyar ki baaton bhi and Gusse ki baaton bhi’. 31^st July is amidst us. It was on this day, Rafisaab left all of us for heavenly abode. Media has started to pay tributes to him. Few days back a Gujarati daily in Mumbai, “Mumbai Samachar” had published an article in which musician Dilip Dholakia has narrated his association and experiences with Rafisaab. While Dilip Dholakia has independently given in few Hindi films in name of D. Dilip, he worked as assistant with Chitragupta and Lakshmikant Pyarelal. Mohammed Rafi – “Mujhe Darde Dil Ka Patha Na Tha Mujhe Aap Kis Liye Mil Gaye, Main Akela Yoon Hee Majhe Main Tha Mujhe Aap Kis Liye Mil Gaye”

A very rare and a beautiful duet between Mohammed Rafi Saab and Ronu Mukherjee (daughter of Hemant Kumar) titled “Sara mora gajra chhudaya toonhe, garva kaise lagaya toonhe, O rasiya mana basiya, teekha teekha kajra lagaya toonhe …. Ko jaadu jagaya toonhe” from the film “Do Dil” written by Kaifi Azmi and music scored by Hemant Kumar. This film had Biswajeet & Rajashri in the lead roles. The other great song from this film being a super solo sung by Rafi Saab is titled as “Tera husna rahe mera ishka rahe tho ye subha ho ye sham rahe na rahe” indeed a master-piece composition. The myriad moods and emotions expressed by Rafi Sahab in his songs is not only awe inspiring but also a subject of discussion for music lovers in general and Rafi admirers in particular.
