Mohd Rafi
Jitnaa bhi suno lage na kaafi …. aawaaz hai aisaa Md. Rafi !
Aawaaz ki duniyaa kaa Raja hai tu
Khudaa ki sadaa kaa doojaa hai tu !
Sangeet ki duniya ka naayak hai tu
Naa koi tujhsaa aisaa gaayak hai tu
Sabke abhimaan kaa laayak hai tu !
Kitne sureele hai tere gaane
Tu hai kalaakaar jaane maane
Nahin koi tere geeton se anjaane
Sabhi hai tere gaanon ke deewaane !
Har kisam ke gaane tu gaayaa
Dil ki aawaaz ko unme milaayaa
Jabbhi tera gaanaa hai aayaa
Lagaa mujhe koi apnaa bulaayaa
Aur saath me teraa mai bhi gaayaa !
Well said, Mr.Ahamed kutty! ‘ aap kahin aas paas hi dosth….” This voice is truly immortal! When one listens his another song, ‘ meri aawaz suno….”, it looks as if he is still singing this song from somewhere up in the heaven, looking down on all his fans on Earth and consoles us that only his body is lost and but he is still with all of us! It is sheer destiny who made him sing such philosophical songs, which have become immensely meaningful after his departure! Blessed are we Rafi fans, because he is Divine.

in ruk huyi saanson mein
zindagi qayamat si nazar aati hain
unke andaz-e-masehaai mein
jab doobta hain dil
to doobkar zindagi ki gehraai
aur ubhar aati hain

you have beautifully described rafi sahab in a nutshell, encompassing his entire persona his songs, his prowess, his human nature, his divine qualities etc.
i feel you have so much in you that you could well have added many more stanzas to the poem.
after reading this poem the govt would weep and repent on its long standing blunder of not having conferred the bharat ratna.
i know rafi sahab is beyond any award but – the govt is supposed to do its job and the fans have a responsibility too.
keep it up sriniwas garu – lets keep reading your poems and articles often.
