We are going to pass through yet another year of Rafi Sahab’s birth anniversary on the 24th December 2008!
Mohammad Rafi is a voice of the ages gone by and for generations to come and what seems so powerful in his delivery is a blend of his humility, that evergreen smile, powerful yet slender voice, the right dose of expression, range and modulation in every song he rendered. His voice is like a high tech music system, without even having to adjust the volume for an excellent output.
What could be the magic in his voice? Any song must have been heard by all of us a 1000 times, but never seem to get bored of it. Was it his singing? Or the lyrics? Or the composition? Or his inimitable style and rendition? While, it is quite obvious that the songs of yesteryears had that power of lyrics and composition, we enjoyed the originality in the singers. Having said that, we seem to nod for that great voice over and over again.
Undoubtedly Rafi Sahab’s voice, as we keep listening every day, reiterate the fact that he was a singer with that magical voice. He was in fact a “magic singing machine”. It is hard to agree that we would listen to any other singer with the songs sung by Rafi Sahab. It is a different matter that we would listen to Rafi songs sung by others, merely because it is a Rafi song!
Very very happy birthday to Rafi Saheb. Today Rafi Saheb is not with us in phisically but we feel his presence in our life every day every movement thru his songs. He is immortal. His songs are immortal. I believe generation after generation will celebrate his birthday with the same enthusiasm as we all millions of Rafi fans are celebrating today and will celebrate till our end. Rafi Saheb sangeet ki duniya ke khuda hain, Bhagwan hai aur sab kuch hai. Mein Iswar se dua karta hoon ki jab tak ye duniya rahe, har insaan ke dil mein aap base rahein aur sangeet ki duniya mein aapka naam sabse ooncha rahe aur SWARNA AKSHARON MEIN LIKHA RAHE. Rafi Saheb is avsar par aap hi ka gaya superhit gaana yaad aata hai ki “Baar Baar Din Ye Aaye Baar Baar Dil Ye Gaaye Tu Jiye Hazaar on Saal Ye Meri Hai Aarzoo Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you “Rafi Saheh” Happy Birthday to you. Aapka Bhakt. Aapka Diwana. Aapka Pagal.

Hi esteemed Rafi fans,
I live in Canada.Incidently I was in my native town in Punjab in december. My town is a small town but I was amazed when I learnt that Rafi fans have organised a programme to mark the birth anniversary of the greatest singer. The programmewas held on Dec.20,08 from 7 PM to 11 PM. A local singer Iftikhar Khan was the main attraction who sang Rafi songs with devotion. The gathering was beyond expectation of the organisers and every one present there was spell bound by Rafi songs. Looking at the success of the programme the organisers decided to hold such events in future as well.I wish them success and also convey my good wishes to Rafi fans all over the world on the occasion of the birthday of the greatest singer of our times.

jai rafi saheb
happy birthday to rafi sahab and greetings to all the fans of the legend. the voice that swept generations of music lovers holds sway for eternity. rafi sahab is perhaps the only vocal artist who could create ‘music’ while singing. his diction, expression, range, clarity were matchless and of the highest order in any case. he rendered his songs from the bottom of his heart and that is the reason each of his several thousand songs are priceless and matchless. the generations who left us before rafi sahab started his magical presence on the hindi film world are alas the deprived while we and the future generations will be regarded as the privileged.
TILL THERE IS A LIFE ON EARTH RAFI WILL BE REMEMBERED
Happy Birthday to Rafi Sahab
Great photo by the way! I always love to see Rafi Sahab together with Shankar & Jaikishan. These three were my favorites!
one of the british diplomat remarked that rafi saheb is one of the 8th wonder of the world, rafi saheb voice is like a river will fill any gaps, it is no wonder that there is no one as equal as rafi saheb, however it is also the composition and lyrics of others inovolved in making the music that make the song as well, my understanding is that the recording techniques improved from the late 60s onwards.
Nowadays we have digital recordings that also allows others who have not sang before to magically be transformed.
