Sir, my perception is taking a toll on my being and NO medical professional can help me. Only YOU can Sir, ONLY you can help me.
I am living with this perception for the past 30 + years, an issue that could be attracting global attention.
Past Governmental regimes/administrations in your country have either:
Refused, sidestepped, bypassed, ignored or neglected to present this award to Moh’d Rafi on the basis of RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION.
Sir, Moh’d Rafi , as you can clearly attest to the prevailing fact, has Fame, Popularity, Class, Personality and MERIT.
Take note Sir, he has contributed and is presently STILL contributing to his country in many ways including the economy.
Sir, when I read the Internet news that you won your country’s election and became Prime Minister, I told myself: Now here comes a Prime Minister who may take my Perception away.
Sir, I look up to you with the greatest respect and I think you could be a no nonsense man who is now holding the Fort and setting things Right
Sir, the ball is in your court now, please don’t let me down.

Rafisaab has sung melodious songs in almost all INDIAN languages viz Hindi, Udiya,Marathi,Bengali,Bhojpuri, konkani,Urdu,Marwadi,Gujrathi,Tamili,Punjabi & English. He didn’t know English & other INDIAN LANGUAGES except URDU,HINDI, PUNJABI,but URDU SCRIPT was given to him so that he could have proper pronunciation.He has also rendered Sanskrit lines like Vakra tund Mahakay Surya koti Samprabha, Gurur Brahma ,Gurur Vishnu,Gurur Devo Maheshwara,Gurur Sakshat ParBrahma ,Satyam Shivam, Sundaram etc. in many songs.He has sung Marathi BHAJAN ‘Shodhisi manwa rauli mandiri’ with perfect pronunciation.
Mohd. Rafi had sung duets with all female singers i.e.Lata,Asha,Usha,Surayya, Suman kalyanpur,Nur Jehan,Rajkumari,Sharda,Gita Dutt,S. Pandit,Krishna kallye Shamshad Begum,Hemlata,U. Khanna etc.He has also many songs with a line of POPULAR HERO/HEROINES like S.Banu,Nanda,Mehmud,Johney Walker ,Sadhna Dharmendra, He had sung songs of nearly 75 composers.He lent his voice & also matched it with that of Dev Anand,Shammi-Shashi-Rishi Kapurs,Pradip-Rajendra- Dilip-Manoj-Sanjivkumars ,Mehmud,Johney Walker,-Kishore kumar,Guru Dutt, Sunil Dutt,Raaj kumar,F.khan,Joy Mukerjee,Jitendra, B.Bhushan,Vishvajit, Dharmendra etc He has lent his voice to DEV more than KK.He has sung more patriotic songs than Mahendra kapur.He has sung more quawalis& clasic songs than Mannadey,more sad songs than Mukesh,more comedy songs than kk & that too with highest quality in many languages including English.Even Lataji is far behind Rafiji in many respect.
From July 1st begin the Campaign for Bharat Ratna…..Pls write few lines to New papers, Channels etc. we must have singing sessions of Rafi saab songs, listening sessions of Rafi saab songs, Live shows, screening of documentary etc.

Rajesh Khanna & Amitab Bachhan’s peak period saw emergence of Kishore kumar.But except LP,SJ all music directors,in search of popularity,used KK for any artist.KK’s voice was matching with Rajesh & Amitab only.This deteriorated KK’s reputation.Mohd.Rafi bounced back due to LP& Rishi kapur.RDB,Rajesh Roshan,Mehmud etc.Rafi regained tremendous form due to films like Jani Dushman,Do raste,Amar,Akbar,Anthony,Kunwara baap,Yadonki barat ,Seema, Naseeb,Prince,Hum kisise kum nahi,Laila Majnu,Apanapan,Lal Pathar etc but in 1980 RAFISAAB was called back after playing a very long melodious innings.After 1975 money won the battle with quality & after RAFISAAB’s death melodious music was very rare.Even LATAJI was helpless due to Rafi’s death.She could not do any thing with available singers,which she could very easily done with in-form RAFISAAB.BHARAT-RATNA movement should gather further momentum.

Dear Dixit ji,
The fan who created a temple in his home on Rafi Saab
is the right person to put the words in front of the
authorities.As far as Rafi Saab is concerned,he is the “ICON”
of the music since there is no bar of religion,language or
nation for his songs.If we hear the music before Rafi Saab
and after his entry in the HFM we can see the vast change
in the style and the whole music industry is indebted to
Rafi Saab for this change.Of course there were good Lyrist
and MDs but the flexibility in the voice and in the personality
helped the MDs to create any type of song.Rafi Saab is the
cause of unity at least in the Indian subcontinent and he is
the livelihood for thousands around the world by singing his
songs.He is the inspiration for millions including singers like
Mahendra Kapoor,Yesudas,SPB,Udit Narayan,Sonu Nigham etc.
In addition to that he had a decent and worshipful personality
and that is why he is in the hearts of millions even after his
heavenly abode of 34 years.
We,all Rafians from all over the world do our level best to
confer the prestigious award “Bharath Ratna” posthumously
on Rafi Saab.

In BINAKA GEET MALA From 1953 to 1980(till death of RAFIJI),the BINAKA TOP SONGS LIST contained highest number of songs of MOHD. RAFI followed by LATA MANGESHKAR. It means RAFIJI has ruled these 30 years.He was the undisputed king of singers till his death.ALL THE BEST WISHES TO COMPAIGN –BHARAT RATNA TO RAFISAAB.
I’m not quite sure why my latest comments on this article are still awaiting moderation when other comments written after mine have been published. I had not written anything that was not true. It is obvious to all that politics is a dirty game and that the Bharat Ratna should have been awarded to Mohd Rafi when he was alive and over 33 years later us fans are still waiting for justice to be done. The fact that so many less worthy people have been awarded this honour says it all.

Rafi saheb really deserves Bharat Ratna. He is the greatest singer of all times and also a great human being. Thanks for posting a letter to the PM for this noble cause. If possible, concerned leaders should be approached in person also. We should monitor this campaign and ensure that this happens.
The super melodious voice of Shri Rafiji was like wine- its intensity increases with passage of days. The more you listen to him, the more you get attracted towards the voice and your love for the great personality gets deeper and deeper. He was one of the greatest personality of the industry. Thorough gentleman, a breed which is not so common in the film industry. You don’t find word to measure his greatness.
Mohd. Rafiji’s voice had an extraordinary wide range & also versatality, flexibility & height.That’s why in almost all duets Rafiji has outshone his male/female co-singers.It is understandable fact that Lataji & Ashaji preferred Mukesh or kishor kumar.Lataji is the best female singer but even she lacks the softness & silkyness of voice, which Rafiji possesses .Rafiji excelled in Gazals,Romantic songs,Patriotic songs in fact all types of songs.Lataji has been sweetest & hard working & recipient of BHARAT -RATNA but Central Govt. has shown negligent attitude towards Rafiji.
Mohd Rafi definitely deserves the Bharat Ratna Award but unfortunately with so much dirty politics that come into play I can’t see that happen any time soon.
Besides the recipients of these awards are becoming in my eyes less and less worthy as it’s become an award that’s not for the people who deserve it but more for people who have links with the people who can pull strings and manipulate.
It’s sad that millions of Mohd Rafi fans are waiting for when justice will be done and for this honour to be bestowed upon this great legend.
I admire you Sanjeev sir for trying so hard with this campaign and pray and hope that the outcome will eventually lead to a positive result. If not at least the Indian Government will know us fans are not going to give up without a fight and it’ll keep Mohd Rafi’s name in the limelight.

In many of the uncountable popular & melodious duets of the greatest singing pair i.e.Mohd Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar we usually find Rafi easily getting the honors eventhough Lataji is sweet & hard working but she lacks effortlessness of Rafiji. Similarly in “DO PEHLU Type songs of these stalwarts ,Lataji appears to be some what limping.However both deserve BHARAT RATNA.Union Govt. should recognize RAFI’s talent & Lataji should participate positively in this movement\ compaign.

Mohd Rafi is world Ratna . The award of God Mohd Rafi got because If you ask people to vote as actor Dilip Kumar or Bachchan not at top but as a singer only Mohd Rafi at top that is real gift Also the gift of God to Mohd Rafi that no one replace him………
Mohd. Rafi was a melodious & mellifluous gift of Nature to India.It is very hard to believe that a singer with silky-mulayam-makhmali & honey-like voice with wide range,was a part of this beautiful planet.Union Govt. should declare BHARAT RATNA to him posthumously.
Rafi Saab not only deserves Bharat Ratna but he richly deserves Universal Ratna or a bigger Ratna. No one can match his voice. Besides being the best in singing he was a very noble man, down to earth. Amitab Bachan rightly said Rafi Saab was a rare singer.

The ‘Bharat Ratna’ award criterion is highly politicized in the present times. We as Rafi fans can certainly put forward our request to The Govt India. If the Govt grants the ‘Bharat Ratna’ to Rafi Sahab it will great, if not there is nothing loose.

People like Rafi Saab entertain us even after 34 years since is untimely demise. He entertained people since he started singing and will do it for many generations to come. But look at the system, those others who even have some criminal background have bestowed with many awards. Do any politician entertain you after their death NO. Do any sportsman entertain you after their death NO. Only singers and some other artists have that blessing. And for a singer like Rafi can be with you all the time of your life entertaining you. Mohammad Rafi; The Virtuoso touched every aspect of the lives of almost 3 generations with his soulful singing. He was a kind and gem of a person. There will be hardly any Indian who could say he had not listened to Mohammad Rafi’s song.
Above all Rafi Sahab is being loved and his songs are researched worldwide yet we as a nation have miserably failed to honour this great son of India with Bharat Ratna as a gesture of our gratitude.
I, on behalf of all the music lovers, call upon you to do the needful and rectify our mistake of not decorating this great soul with Bharat Ratna.
I am sure more than a billion people would applaud you if you announce Rafi Sahab a Bharat Ratna, this year.

usee tarhaa – bhains key saamney beeen bajaanaa bhee ek hee baath hogayee.
ealier when i too was in full cry with this thought – i looked back and found that there were some veteran’s who had died long back ” making the same and even better noises “.
i started to seriously ponder over this unusual predicament and found myself in the cross roads.
then it dawned on me that – we are talking of a ” political award ” and i felt like a ” spent force ” – because one of the worst human’s on this earth are the politician’s – who will just do what they want to do.
none of the awards given by them so far has any justification absolutely.
a dog is can be trusted – not the politician.
hence, please do not for a moment think or feel that i am discouraging but just pointing towards the futility.

I heartly appreciate and value your suggestion for reward to Late Muhammed Rafi Sahab for Bharat Ratna and Dada saheb phalke award.Actually ours is a very dirty politics and all the awards are distributed for their personal gains,that’s why many of our real heroes have been deprived of their rights,viz Netaji Subhash Bose,gurudutt,capt dhyanchand,balraj sahney,Director Mehboob khan,and many more,and on the other hand many non eligible were awarded (No need to mention names here)
I suggest you to create online formats ,so everybody may fill and submit it.I feel that there is no need to submit voter id,and email id will serve the purpose.

Rafi saheb should have got the Bharat Ratna much earlier It is very unfortunate that he was awarded only a Padmasree when he was alive
