This is my published ‘letters to the editor’ article in Khaleej Times

It was during the holy month of Ramadan on 31st July 1980, one of the greatest voice that Indian film Industry produced breathed its last.

Today, after 33 years the voice is haunting us as we reminiscent Mohammed Rafi on his death anniversary. In a nation of billion plus people, music plays an integral part of our daily lives from the FMs to the multitude shops there is always music buzzing to our ears. (more…)

On July 31, another bright star from the world of music fell. This time it was on the other side of our border. He had left Lahore when he was in his teens. While his parents and five brothers, all elder to him, continue to live in this part of the world, he spent four decades in Bombay. (more…)

The 33rd Anniversary of Mohd. Rafi, The Great Singer of this Earth planet falls on 31st July. 33 Years means two generations and certainly Rafi sahib is still impressing the coming generations also. The mass have always been with Mohd. Rafi, though he has never been judiciously recognized by the India Govt. I met him last week at his residence in Calicut, Kerala. The sit out where “Rafi Mehfil” is being conducted on every Sunday evenings with two big portraits of Rafi Saab welcoming us while entering the home. रफीकी भक्तिरसधारा,

‘मन तडपत हरी दर्शन को आज ‘(बैजू बावरा),’बड़ी देर भई बड़ी देर भई कब लोगे खबर मोरे राम ‘(बसंत बहार)जैसे ईश्वर के प्रति समर्पण भाव व्यक्त करनेवाले भक्तिगीत हम बरसोंसे रफ़ी साहबके अदभुत स्वरके भक्ति छटा के आविष्कार स्वरुप सुनते आ रहे है। रफ़ी साहब के गाये हुए भक्तिगीतोंमे ईश्वर की अनुभूति दिलानेका सामर्थ्य है यह एक सम्पूर्ण सत्य है । मेरे इस विधान के पुष्टीकरण में उन्होने १ ९ ६ ० के पहले गाये हुए कुछ चुनिन्दा भक्ती गीतोंका मै यहाँ जिक्र करता हूँ जो हमेशा सुनाई नहीं देते तथा जो हम सुन चुके है । (more…)
