The musiclovers had remembered legendary composer Omkar Prasad Nayyar, popularly known as OP Nayyar on his birthday on 16th January, 2015. He had died few years back, but his tunes had remained immortal for the audience of bollywood films for years. Whenever the name of OP Nayyar appeared in the minds of the audience, the name of immortal singer Mohammad Rafi had come together, without whom OP Nayyar was incomplete. Mohammad Rafi is beyond doubt the greatest singer India had ever produced. On his birth anniversary on 24th December, 2014, everyone remembered him and showed their respect and regard for the great soul. The nation remembers Mohammad Rafi on his death anniversary on 31st july every year. It was a very painful experience for most of the music lovers of India and abroad to recollect the experience of 31st July, 1980. 30 years had passed since his death and yet time could not heal the wound inflicted in the hearts of numerous music lovers of the country. Mohammed Rafi was associated with Deven Varma as a singer, co-singer and filmmaker. Veteran actor Deven Verma passed away on 2nd December, 2014 at the aged of 77 in Kalyani Nagar, Pune due to heart attack and kidney failure. He was survived by his wife Rupa Ganguly, younger daughter of Ashok Kumar (Dadamoni). Though most people know him as a famous and refined comedian, but comedy was late entry to his film career. Though Mohammed Rafi and Raj Kapoor was not must familiar as a singer and actor, one entity is very common to both of them as they born in the month of December, 1924 in Pakistan of Undivided India. Raj Kapoor was born as Ranbir Raj Kapoor on 14th December, 1924 in Dhakki Munawwar Shah near Qissa Khwani in Peshawar into a Pathan Hindu family to Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Devi. Raj Kapoor was eldest of six children in the family, out of which two died in infancy and had a sister named Urmila Sial. Mohammed Rafi was born on 24th December, 1924 in Kota Sultan Singh village near Amritsar in Punjab to Hajji Ali Mohammed who further moved to Lahore where he ran a salon in Noor Mohalla in Bhatti Gate. Ravi Shankar Sharma and Mohammad Rafi’s combination is remembered for generations

Renowned music director Ravi Shankar Sharma died on 7th March, 2012, at the age of 86 years. His music had remained immortal over the years.

From the film Vachan and Albeli in 1955 he started his musical journey. In 1960, Mohammad Rafi’s soft ghazal “chaudhvin ka chand” in the film Chaudhvin Ka Chand made him a musical star. Guru Dutt’s picturization was as outstanding as the lyrics and the brilliant performance of Rafi Sahab in both the songs “chaudhvin ka chand ho” and “mili khaak me mohabbat”. Even Rafi Sahab’s songs for Johnny Walker in the film namely “mera yaar bana hai dulha” and “yeh duniya gol hai” caught the attention of the music lovers. From that time it was magic been created whenever Rafi Sahab and Ravi Sahab combined together. In Rajendra Kumar’s film Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan in 1959, Rafi Sahab’s song “ajab hai maalik tera jahaan” was very impressive. (more…)
