Every year as December begins (and I have written this in an earlier birthday post of Mohammed Rafi Saab), I look forward to my birthday and also that of my Idol. But there is another great character who we all remember very fondly as the month of December starts. And we look forward to his appearing before us. We keenly await his arrival, and stay awake, waiting for him.
The immortal voice of Mohammed Rafi Sahab continues to resonate across the globe as we celebrate his 101st birth anniversary on December 24, 2025. Even more than four decades after his passing, his songs remain an inseparable part of India’s cultural heartbeat. Every leading actor from the 1940s to the 1970s owes some of their most iconic moments on screen to the magic of Rafi Sahab’s voice.
On his 45th death anniversary on 31st July 2025, Mohammed Rafi Sahab is fondly remembered across the globe. From the 1940s to the 1970s, nearly every lyricist, music director, and composer rose to prominence through their collaboration with him.
December is the month when I celebrate two birthdays – my own and that of my biggest idol – Mohammed Rafi Sahab. There is a difference of exactly two weeks between our birthdays, but I am in a celebratory mood right from the 1st of the month!
Mohammed Rafi Sahab is remembered all over the world on his 100th birth anniversary today on 24th December 2024. Every actor between the 1940s to 1970s had one of their greatest hit songs sung by Rafi Sahab.
