The Rafi Foundation will celebrate the 89th Birth Anniversary of Singing Legend Mohammad Rafi with a Musical Show on Tuesday, Dec 24 at the Fine Art Auditorium, Chembur.

Life time awards to Anandjibhai of Kalayanji Anandji Musical Duo & to Udit Narayan along with an array of Mohammad Rafi ‘s evergreen numbers will be presented at the musical evening.

There will be over 15,000 musical sittings & events around the world by Rafi Sahab’s lovers during the week, said Binu Nair founder of the Rafi Foundation in Mumbai.

Every year innumerable People visit ……. the Rafi Mansion located at Bandra and to Mohammad Rafi’s burial place in Santacruz during the months of Dec & July to pay homage to one of the most popular singer of our times.

It’s thirty three years since Mohd Rafi, arguably India’s greatest and most Versatile playback singer left for his heavenly abode leaving behind thousands of sweet melodies – which made him a legend during his life time. Rafi died on July 31 when he was 55 years old and left a void which no singer after him has been able to fill.

According to research, Mohd Rafi could sing in 14 different styles . If he has sung about 160 songs for Yahoo Shammi Kapoor, he has also sang nearly the same number for comedian – Johny Walker.

Every music aficionado know the power of Mohammad Rafi ‘s rendition. His “Mein Zindagi ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya” was an inspiration for every “ zindadil “ young man faced with challenges in life & his ” Oh duniya ke Rakhwale” could even make the Gods weep.

Mohammad Rafi attained immense popularity and became a household name with the song “Suno Suno e duniya walo, Bapu ki ye amar Kahani” recorded during the week of Mahatma Gandhiji’s asassination.

The song dedicated to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru “Meri Awaz Suno” & “Kar Chale Hum Fida” from Haquekat remain popular numbers – repeatedly heard in live musicals.

The power of his voice & the pleasure his fans derive from his songs prompted a group of music lovers led by Binu Nair to form a group called the Rafi Foundation which is a broad platform for Mohammad Rafi lovers.

Following Rafi Sahebs footsteps of helping the needy and deprived, The Rafi Foundation donated wheel chairs to a charitable group in Mumbai for the Physically Challenged recently in Mumbai.

People like you are great who following the foot steps of great rafi saab. on every year our rafi saab’s birthday ‘main to yahi gaata hoon our gaoonga ‘bar bar din ye aaye hazaar bar dil ye gaaye’ tu jiye hazaaron saal ye meri hai aarzoo ‘ happy birthday to you..happy birthday to you.. happy birthday to rafi saab ..happy birthday to you.

    kokata fm station 94.3 paid glowing tributes to rafisaab on 24th dec by dedicating the whole day in the memory of great artiste.I got a chance to listen to mr.binu nair,music direc anandjee n host of other musical personalities who told us so many sweet incidents of rafisaab during recording of songs.It was the most memorable program …..even young boys n girls are great fans of his mesmerised n magical voice.I distribute free rafisaab cds to the organisers of pujas here n around my place so that his voice should pass on the future generation.they should know that he was the only complete singer who could sing any song in the most melodious way for any artiste on screen whether sad,happy,love song,patriotic,religious,ghazal.bhajan,gurbani.quawali,nazm,folk n classical…
